GPA & Percentage Conversion Guide

What Is GPA and Percentage?

GPA (Grade Point Average) is a standardized way of measuring academic performance on a scale of 10, 5, 4, or 4.3, depending on the institution. Percentage is the traditional 0–100 scale commonly used in India and many other countries.

Universities often convert between these two to evaluate international students fairly. This tool helps you bridge that gap.

GPA to Percentage Conversion

  • 10-Point Scale: Percentage = (GPA × 7.5) + 13
  • 5-Point Scale: Percentage = (GPA × 15) + 13
  • Other Scales: Approximations based on grading heuristics

These formulas are widely used in Indian universities like VTU, MU, Anna University, etc., though actual rules may vary slightly.

Percentage to GPA Conversion

If you only know your percentage, this tool estimates your GPA on different international scales:

  • GPA (10): Percentage ÷ 9.5
  • GPA (5): (GPA (10) ÷ 2)
  • GPA (4 & 4.3): Adjusted per common equivalence tables
  • UK Grades: First, Upper/Lower Second, etc. based on thresholds
  • German GPA: Inverted scale with 1 being the best

Average CGPA Calculation

Want to calculate your average CGPA across multiple semesters? Just enter each semester's GPA in order. You must fill in the earlier semesters before jumping ahead.

The calculator automatically computes the average CGPA and converts it to percentage using your chosen scale.

University-Specific Variations

Always double-check your university’s official conversion method. While this tool is based on standard formulas, institutions like Anna University, VTU, DU, etc., may have their own rules.

Final Notes

This tool provides a close approximation, not an official certification. It’s perfect for visa applications, pre-application eligibility checks, or informal evaluations.
